ActivityThe National Union of Railwaymen was formed in 1913 by the amalgamation of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants, the United Pointsmen and Signalmen’s Society and the General Railway Workers’ Union. It became part of the National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers (RMT) in 1990. Perth was a major railway junction in Scotland up until the 1960s. There were two branches of the NUR in Perth but only the minutes of the No 1 branch have been deposited with the Perth and Kinross Archive.
