TitleDrummond of Comrie papers
HistoryThe lands of Comrie belonged to the family of Comrie of that Ilk until 1629 when the lands passed from John Comrie to David Drummond, servant to the Earl of Perth and fourth son of John Drummond, fourth laird of Drummondernoch. The lands of Lurg were granted by John Drummond of Drummondernoch to his son, David Drummond in 1633. David Drummond married Margaret Hay, daughter of George Hay of Pitfour and died around 1645. The estate passed to Patrick Drummond of Mailler around 1745 and then to his son, James Drummond, born 1764, the last laird of Comrie who inherited the estate around 1771 and died in 1800. The lands owned by the Drummond family included lands around Comrie and Crieff parishes.
