TitleAmalgamated Society of Woodworkers (Perth Branch)
HistoryThe Amalgamated Society of Carpenters and Joiners was formed in 1860 and a branch was instituted in Perth in 1895. The Society represented the interests of its members in relation to pay and working conditions. In 1918 the name was changed to the Amalgamated Society of Carpenters, Cabinetmakers and Joiners on merging with the Amalgamated Union of Cabinetmakers. In 1921 a further merger took place with the General Union of Carpenters and Joiners to form the Amalgamated Society of Woodworkers. The Perth Branch was active until at least 1964. A further amalgamation took place with the Amalgamated Union of Building Trade Workers in 1971 to form the Union of Construction and Allied Trades and Technicians (UCATT). The Union represents the interests of its members in relation to pay and working conditions.
